Canadian analyst Dennis DesRosiers spoke yesterday to a group of to automotive industry members convened by the Vancouver Board of Trade.
In his talk, DesRosiers pointed out several key differences in the buying habits of Canadians, who tend to be more environmentally conscious, and Americans, who tend to pay less attention to the matter.
He said: “The American consumer is the most irresponsible auto-owning public in the worldCanada gets painted with the same brush.”
However, according to DesRosiers, Canadians have been showing a sizeable shift in buying trends, towards more eco-friendly vehicles, and currently purchase luxury and SUV brands at about half the rate of their southern neighbours
