Columbia Auto Group will begin 2026 under new ownership when Sarah Voigt-Austin assumes leadership of the long-standing family business
She will become the fourth generation of the Voigt family to guide the company. Founded in 1954, the Waterloo-based automotive service provider has been operating in the Southwestern Ontario community for more than 70 years.
Voigt-Austin brings extensive industry experience to her new role. Before rejoining Columbia Auto Group, she held multiple leadership positions within NAPA Canada’s corporate division, gaining expertise in operations, equipment, marketing and industry relations.
In an announcement, the company noted that her return marks both a continuation of family tradition and a new era of growth.
“It’s a great honour to carry forward a legacy that my family has built over seven decades,” said Voigt-Austin, who will take on the role of owner and general manager. “Our focus remains the same: Integrity, quality service and taking care of the people who trust us with their vehicles. I’m excited to continue expanding our capabilities for the Waterloo community.”
Columbia Auto Group operates three locations in Waterloo: Its main location at 160 Columbia St. W., as well as 466 Phillip St. and 135 Lexington Court. It employs a team of 28 staff. The company offers full-service automotive diagnostics, repairs, maintenance and light detailing. It is an independent EV-certified facility.
“As a woman leading in an industry traditionally dominated by men, Sarah brings a fresh perspective while continuing to uphold the company’s long-standing values,” the company said in a statement. “Her leadership reflects Columbia Auto Group’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity and community-focused service.”
