Ford Expects to Source $1.3 Billion…

Ford Expects to Source $1.3 Billion in Parts from China

Ford expects to source about $1.3 billion CDN in automotive parts from China next year, its chairman and chief executive Bill Ford said on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
Bill Ford also told reporters that Ford may eventually open the door to exports from its vehicle operations in China, the report added.
“At some point we could see exporting out of China,” Ford reportedly said.
Reuters noted that the US based car maker announced in October that it would boost investment in China’s fast-growing market by more than $1 billion over the next few years as part of ambitious expansion plans there.
The announcement comes amid mounting concerns that Chinese parts plants’ counterfeit activities are creating an increasing dent in the profits of the companies who have contracted them to produce parts, as well as independent counterfeiting operations.
