Pennzoil has introduced Pennzoil Platinum Transmission and Axles Oils which are designed to cover 95 per cent of the passenger cars and light trucks in North America. The tiered line of Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF), Manual Transmission Fluids (MTF) and Axle Oils are part of the Pennzoil Platinum product line for complete drivetrain protection.
“The Pennzoil Platinum Transmission and Axles Oils build on the technology of Pennzoil Platinum motor oils by offering full synthetic performance with a wide range of products designed to meet vehicle needs,” said Doug Kooyman, Pennzoil global brand manager. “The driveline oils are available to repair facilities, quick lubes, and at retailers for individuals that work on their own car or truck.”
The Pennzoil Platinum driveline oils feature the traditional Pennzoil yellow bottle with similar labels to Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic motor oils providing a recognizable look for the entire product portfolio. The side color bar on each bottle identifies the general fluid type: ATF, Axle, MTF (Gear) or CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
Pennzoil Platinum driveline products are part of a redesigned portfolio of Pennzoil transmission and axle oils that provide protection for transmissions and help maintain performance. The Pennzoil line-up of driveline oils makes selecting the proper level of protection easier.
“The simplified line of Pennzoil driveline oils allow shops to stock only one premium brand of driveline lubricants to meet their needs,” said Steve Balfe, Pennzoil North American marketing specialist. “They offer OEM service fill approvals or performance that meets many of the latest specifications and requirements on the road.”

Pennzoil Platinum LV Multi-Vehicle ATF
Pennzoil Platinum LV Multi-Vehicle ATF has been optimized to cover as wide of a range of current generation applications possible in a single formulation. It contains advanced, synthetic technology to cover a wide variety of newer ATF applications. Additional coverage will be added as qualification testing is completed.
· GM DEXRON-VI Approval (License No. J-60182)
· Ford MERCON LV Approval (License Nos. MLV 140601, MLV 140602, MLV 140603 (Blending Plant Specific))
· JASO 1A service fill requirements and viscosity for many newer Japanese and Asian vehicles, many are backward compatible to older generation ATFs.
Pennzoil Platinum ATF+4
Pennzoil Platinum ATF+4 is a full synthetic ATF designed for Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and other brands using this Chrysler specific ATF.
· Fully licensed and approved for all applications where Chrysler ATF+4 / MS-9602 ATF is required. Covers prior generations of Chrysler ATFs.
· The same fluid that is used for Chrysler factory fill.
· Applications in automatic transmissions, power steering systems, transfer cases and manual transmissions.
Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage ATF
Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage ATF is a full synthetic ATF designed for higher viscosity ATF applications, typically older generation transmissions. It covers many import and domestic applications in light duty cars and trucks and almost all prior to 2006. It also covers all of the vehicles currently covered by Pennzoil Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF which it replaces.
Pennzoil Platinum CVT-2
Pennzoil Platinum CVT-2 is a full synthetic CVT Fluid designed for many of the CVT equipped vehicles entering service fill. It covers the popular JATCO and other push belt CVTs used in Nissan, Suzuki, Chrysler, GM and others.
Pennzoil Driveline Portfolio – ATFs
Pennzoil Automatic Transmission Fluid has been renamed as Pennzoil Dex/Merc ATF to highlight the applications covered. Pennzoil Dex/Merc ATF is a very effective and cost competitive fluid for GM DEXRON-III(H) and Ford MERCON ATF coverage.
Pennzoil Type F ATF is still available for those wanting a Ford Type F style ATF. This type of ATF has unique frictional properties required for Ford Type F and is not interchangeable with other ATFs.
Several Shell branded ATFs are also available to supplement specialty applications such as commercial vehicle grade transmissions and unique transmissions such as Mercedes-Benz.
Pennzoil Platinum Axle Oils
Pennzoil Platinum Axle Oils are full synthetic, API GL-5 axle/differential/gear oil covering many applications in passenger cars and light trucks including many limited slip applications.
· Pennzoil Platinum Axle 75W-90 for differentials, transfer cases, and some dry DCTs offers improved low temperature flow compared to SAE 80W-90 or SAE 90.
· Pennzoil Platinum Axle 75W-140 is used primarily in differentials in pickups, racing and high performance cars, and some older vehicles and offers improved low temperature flow compared to SAE 80W-140, SAE 85W-140 or SAE 140.
Pennzoil Platinum Gear 75W-90
Pennzoil Platinum Gear 75W-90 is a full synthetic, API GL-4 manual transmission/gear oil for passenger cars and light trucks. SAE 75W-90 will cover most manual transmissions requiring an API GL-4 oil. Some transfer cases could also require this fluid.
Pennzoil Axle 80W-90
Pennzoil Axle 80W-90 provides high quality performance with improved low temperature flow to a straight grade SAE 90 when a traditional, conventional mineral oil differential lubricant is required. API GL-5 performance gives full protection for hypoid gears in axles/differentials where SAE 80W-90 is needed. Limited slip capability provides controlled friction in limited slip axles.
Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid
Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid is designed for GM 9985648 and Chrysler MS-9224 and protects moderately loaded gears and manual transmissions. It contains a high detergent additive system to cope with water, dust, dirt, and deposits. Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid offers synchronizer compatibility for performance in manual transmissions. Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid is a specific manual transmission oil to fulfill the needs of Chrysler, GM, Honda and other OEM requirements.
