Federal-Mogul’s electronic catalog has been relaunched with an all-new interface and a variety of innovative features. The company says the redesigned catalog is faster, easier and more valuable for any user, including those who prefer to research parts and repair information via a smartphone or tablet computer.
Federal-Mogul expects the eCatalog site’s popularity to grow thanks to a new, highly refined user interface as well as responsive design technology that delivers a seamless experience for those using mobile devices. In 2012, the FMe-cat.com site attracted an average of approximately 10,000 unique visitors per day and logged more than 25 million product lookups. The site covers all Federal-Mogul products in each of six application categories – passenger car and light truck; commercial, agricultural and industrial; performance; marine; powersport; and small engine.
“Faster, easier and more mobile – we identified these three key development goals through extensive input from customers as well as by studying the manner in which our existing users navigated the original site,” said Brent Berman, manager, digital marketing and e-data, North America, Federal-Mogul. “The new FMe-cat.com not only achieves these goals, but helps users gain more value through every visit through our extensive library of product information, repair resources, technical videos and news.”
The new site automatically “senses” the size and format of the user’s digital device and then optimizes screen content and layout for easier access to parts details and related information across any or all of Federal-Mogul’s product lines. The site now also includes an “omnibox” parts locator at the top of each screen that will immediately generate a list of all potential matches – including Federal-Mogul parts, applications and available technical resources – with the input of a single OEM, Federal-Mogul or competitor part number.
Users can also enter a vehicle identification number (VIN) and generate a list of Federal-Mogul parts across as many or as few brands as they choose. Customers can easily navigate between application categories while looking up parts and save information from each result within the “My Parts List” tab.
Among the technical tools available through the new site are repair tips and bulletins; torque, part and engine specifications lookups; calculators that enable the user to determine engine displacement, horsepower, and torque and compression ratio based on their parts choices; and a “Training Center” featuring dozens of free technical videos representing each of the company’s brands and product lines.
Embedded within the site’s home page is the Federal-Mogul e360 news feed covering the latest brand-related announcements, including current promotions, product introductions and motorsports results.
