AIA reports on Ontario Drive Clean…

AIA reports on Ontario Drive Clean fee

The Automotive Industries Association (AIA) has released information regarding the elimination of the Ontario Drive Clean fee. It is said that the fee will be removed at some point between April 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018.

The program itself is up for renewal in June 2018, and the government has not indicated any plans to cancel the program.

The AIA has provided the following statement regarding the Ontario Drive Clean Fee, and how it will impact shops:

“With cash flow being an issue, AIA is also communicating to the government the necessity that shops get reimbursed their portion of the Drive Clean fee without delay. The Drive Clean Office confirms they are working on plans that would limit payout delays to days rather than weeks or worse. The government has assured AIA that it understands the importance of this issue and that they are committed to maintaining the good relationships they currently have with Drive Clean facilities. When the regulation is ready to be changed, the government will post the change for a 60 day comment period. AIA will provide more details as and when available.”
