AIA Advisory On Vehicle Warranty Concerns

For the past few months, we (AIA) have heard from a number of you regarding your customers’ questions about their vehicle’s warranty. According to reports, dealerships have been sending communications pieces (email, pamphlets, printed mailers) implying that regular maintenance has to be done by their dealership or the customer risks having their vehicle’s warranty voided. Of additional concern for us was the noted increase in the number of radio and TV ads from dealerships reinforcing this message.

As a result, we have revised our “Notice to Consumers” statement regarding regular servicing and maintenance and a vehicle’s warranty. Please note that the previous statement is no longer valid and should be removed from public display effective immediately.

We encourage you to share this new Notice with your customers. We, at AIA Canada, believe that as your association and as the VOICE of the automotive aftermarket, it is very important to share the message that, as consumers, Canadians have a choice.

As part of your membership benefits, a FREE printable PDF version of the Notice is available online at www.aiacanada.com. A permanent and brandable plaque-mounted version of the Notice can be ordered through the website. Please email communications@aiacanada.com for more information.
