Former CARS, Jobber News editor joins AIA Canada

Former CARS and Jobber News magazine editor Adam Malik has joined the Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA Canada) as director of growth and partnerships, bringing two decades of journalism and communications experience to the role, including nearly 10 years covering the automotive aftermarket.

Malik will focus on strengthening AIA Canada’s relationships across the auto care sector, growing membership and partnerships and connecting industry organizations with the association’s resources, expertise and networks.

Malik also served as managing editor of Canadian Underwriter, where he gained experience covering the property and casualty insurance industry, including the collision repair sector.

After Turnkey Media acquired CARS and Jobber News, Malik returned to the aftermarket full-time as editor-in-chief of the company’s automotive aftermarket publications, overseeing CARS, Jobber News, EV World and AutoServiceWorld.com. He also hosted Auto Service World Conversations, a podcast featuring industry leaders and professionals.

Throughout his aftermarket career, Malik attended industry events across Canada and served on AIA Canada’s Young Professionals in the Auto Care sector (YPA) Committee and the Auto Care Association’s Young Automotive Network Group (YANG).

In his new role, Malik said AIA Canada’s advocacy work, including its support for the right to repair, will be important as vehicle technology evolves and access to vehicle data becomes increasingly important to vehicle maintenance and repair.

He will also focus on helping the association bring the industry together as it faces changing consumer behaviour, economic pressures, geopolitical uncertainty and evolving vehicle technology.

AIA Canada said increased membership and industry participation will strengthen the association’s ability to advocate on behalf of the aftermarket while providing programs, research and other resources to businesses across the sector.
