Automotive repair professionals from across the Atlanta area attended last week’s grand opening of a “Garage Gurus” regional training center in Norcross, Atlanta.
Garage Gurus is a nationwide technical education network established by global vehicle components supplier Federal-Mogul Motorparts to help automotive technicians, shop owners, service writers and other front-line industry professionals keep pace with the latest vehicle technologies.
The new training center, which will provide onsite, online and on-demand training and related support to the nearly 5,400 Greater Atlanta repair businesses, is the fourth of up to 15 locations scheduled to open this year across the U.S.
“Garage Gurus brings much-needed focus to the talented, hardworking professionals who help keep millions of consumers safe and secure behind the wheel,” said Dan Ninivaggi, CEO, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “The demand for vehicle service has never been greater, with more than 200 passenger cars per U.S. repair bay. I believe it is our responsibility as a leading manufacturer to provide the technical support and other assistance these businesses need to keep pace with each new wave of vehicle technology.”
Automotive repair professionals toured the region’s Garage Gurus training center, located at 6690 Jones Mill Court in Norcross, for a first-hand look at the diagnostic and repair equipment and other resources that will be used in each training course. They also inspected two of Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ Web-connected “Gurus-On-The-Go” product technology vans, which travel among regional repair shops providing technicians with problem-solving solutions, technical assistance and local training.
In addition to the new training center in Norcross, Federal-Mogul Motorparts operates Garage Gurus facilities in Greater Chicago (Skokie, Ill.), Van Nuys, Calif., and the Bronx, N.Y. Three additional Garage Gurus locations – in Baltimore, Dallas/Fort Worth and Rancho Dominguez, Calif. – will open later this week.
