Gord Olich, owner of Active Group Inc., a prominent automotive parts supplier in Alberta, has become an official member of the Canadian Independent Automotive Association (CIA). Olich has signed up four of his ‘Bumper to Bumper’ stores for membership in Alberta. They are as follows: Bumper to Bumper, Edson, manager Laurence Tyrell; Bumper to Bumper, 11754 – 170 St., Edmonton, manager Mark Nichols; Bumper to Bumper, 515 – 58 Ave., S.E. Calgary, manger Blain Ruzycki; and Bumper to Bumper, #1, 1825 – 32 Ave., Calgary, manager Mike McNabb.
Because today’s cars are so sophisticated, repairing them requires computer software accompanied by specialized electronic tools and training. These technological changes have allowed sixty percent of car companies that sell vehicles in Canada the right to refuse to make repair software, tools, and training commercially available to the independent service and repair industry.
The CIA Association is a non profit association that is run by a dedicated board of directors that volunteer their time and commitment to improving the independent automotive industry. It is a national organization and is actively involved in the fight for the Right to Repair bill.
