40th annual Shads R&R tournament set for June 13

Shad’s R&R golf tournament will be held on June 13 at Station Creek Golf & Country Club in Stouffville, Ont.

The automotive aftermarket fundraiser is hitting a milestone this year. It will be the 40th anniversary for Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s largest single-day fundraiser.

Started in 1973 by a small group of automotive executives, it has grown year upon year into a massive annual even that has raised over $4 million for muscular dystrophy research. The money is put to good use, helping improve the quality of life for the tens of thousands of Canadians with neuromuscular disorders, and leading research for the discovery of therapies and cures.

Even after 40 years, the event is still run with founder Fred Shaddick’s original mission in mind: the day is “For the Kids.”
