KYB Americas Corp, as recognized by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, has secured an official trademark for Original Equipment Shocks and Struts for the Aftermarket.

The trademark was pursued to serve as additional branding to the KYB family of products in the North American aftermarket. KYB has a long history as one of the largest manufacturers of original equipment shocks and struts. This trademarked logo represents KYB’s commitment to incorporate the same manufacturing principles and quality into our aftermarket products as we do for our OEM products.

“At KYB, manufacturing the very best products for our customers is at the heart of what we do,” said KYB Vice President Mike Fiorito. “We believe the Original Equipment Shocks and Struts for the Aftermarket trademark better defines KYB's product strategy and provides our customers with a distinct advantage in the ride control market.”

This is the essence of trademarking and perfect example of HOW trademarking should be used. KYB has spent considerable time and money building their brand and has earned a certain level of trust with the public/consumer. They should now be capitalizing on that work by registering a trademark for all their products. I recently started a business and had no idea how important this aspect of "branding" was until I read about it on http://trademarkshop.ca/trade-mark-basics - do yourself a favor and check it out.
