Toyota Recalls 3.37 Million Vehicles

Toyota Motor Corp. has announced that it has recalled 3.37 million vehicles worldwide over possible issues with air bags and emissions control units, according to Reuters.

A possible defect with the emissions control units is responsible for 2.87 million of the recalled vehicles, while 1.43 million vehicles were recalled over faulty airbag inflators. Approximately 930,000 vehicles could be affected by both issues, totalling the 3.37 million vehicles in all.

Evaporative fuel emissions control units in the Prius, Auris and Corolla from model years 2006-2015 could crack over time, causing leaks.

Air bag inflators, manufactured by Autoliv, in the Toyota Prius and Lexus CT200h models from 2010-2012 could have a small crack in the weld. The defect could cause the airbag to partially inflate and enter the passenger area, increasing the risk of injury.

No injuries have been reported.
