Timing Belt in Oil Service: The Next Profit Opportunity for Garages

Timing belt in oil (TBIO) is a relatively new technology that is quickly becoming an expanding service category across North America, and as a shop, you are uniquely positioned to benefit.

Originally developed to meet OEM efficiency, durability and NVH targets, vehicles that include these systems and belts as OE, are now entering service intervals, and replacement is critical to the life and performance of the vehicle. This means a new wave of maintenance demand could be coming to your shop.
Dayco recently introduced timing belt in oil part numbers across the NA aftermarket to give service centers access to OE-level solutions as these vehicles age into repair cycles. Initial TBIO part numbers are for oil pump drive applications for more than 2 million popular Ford and Lincoln turbocharged, timing chain-driven engines, such as the 1.5L, 2.7L and 3.0L platforms.
As a Canadian service garage, this is especially relevant because turbocharged small displacement engines, including those with EcoBoost variations, are common across passenger cars, trucks and SUVs on roads today.
Dayco Belts Set the Standard
Because TBIO was originally invented by Dayco for OEM use, its aftermarket line is designed to meet or exceed specs for fit, durability and performance.

Be Prepared for TBIO Service Demand
As more vehicles equipped with TBIO approach service intervals, you can help educate customers on preventative maintenance while capturing high-value repair work, especially since many drivers aren’t even aware their vehicle has a timing belt in oil.
This service can differentiate you from those focused only on traditional timing systems, as well as establish you at the forefront of engine technology, which in turn, helps strengthen relationships with your long-term customers.
