A.R.E. Inc. has unveiled an addition to its LSX fiberglass tonneau cover, designed specifically for all current model Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks for short and extra-short bed applications. It features a unique spring-assisted scissor hinge technology which moves the cover both up and away from the cab at the same time when the owner opens the tonneau. A.R.E.s LSX standard trim package comes with interior carpet lining which covers the wiring to give the covers underside a professional finish. A standard hardware shroud and 12-volt interior light make the LSX both attractive and user-friendly. Remote keyless entry is standard for this premium product, allowing for hands-free locking and unlocking of the tonneau, and creating a secure cargo-carrying space. When creating the LSX, we carefully considered the styling features found at the bulkhead and rear cab interface area on new pickups, said Robert Boulard, vice president of design and engineering for A.R.E. The spring-assisted scissor hinge allows us to design a precise fit, while keeping the cover from coming in contact with the bed to avoid any potential scratching or scuffing of the paint. Other options include a sport wing with Hella light. A.R.E.s modular clamping system features ergonomically designed clamps, which match the rail of the truck for an improved original equipment appearance. Designed with a trimless edge for a cleaner, more streamlined look, the LSX is painted to match the trucks paint code through a state-of-the-art paint system. Additionally, all hardware on the LSX, including the M6 x 1 metric fasteners, is 500-hour salt spray rated to ensure lifetime corrosion resistance. The LSX was rigorously cycle-tested to ensure durability and quality, meeting and exceeding all original equipment specifications, said Boulard.
