The Ontario Tire Dealers Association is opening applications for the fourth year of its Academic Scholarship Program, offering two scholarships of $2,500 each to students and apprentices pursuing careers in the automotive and tire sectors.
Applications opened March 16, 2026, and close May 29, 2026.
The OTDA said the awards are designed to help offset tuition, school fees, tools and educational supplies while encouraging the next generation to build careers in the industry. Eligible applicants must be actively enrolled in a Canadian post‑secondary program or vocational‑technical school or be registered as an automotive apprentice with the Government of Canada and working in the sector.
Applicants must also be a full‑time employee of an OTDA member company, or an immediate family member or legal ward of a full‑time, permanent employee (employed at least one year) of an OTDA member in good standing.
The application requires a resume, up to three typed pages, outlining education and GPA, extracurricular involvement, academic honours and community or volunteer work, supported by non‑family reference letters that confirm achievements. Applicants must include a letter from an OTDA member confirming current employment or the employment of an immediate family member, plus proof of registration for the upcoming semester at an accredited Canadian post‑secondary institution or proof of registered apprenticeship.
The scholarship guidelines outline that successful candidates will demonstrate clear self‑awareness, leadership and communication, passion and drive, a strong sense of community and long‑term goals with a plan to achieve them.
Recipients will be notified by August 15, 2026.
Applications must be submitted by email only to OTDAScholarship@otda.com. The OTDA encourages members to share the opportunity with employees, co‑op students, apprentices and family members who may benefit from the program.
