The new GT Radial Adventuro AT-AW tire is being introduced in Canada to provide SUV and light truck drivers with excellent traction in all weather conditions on and off the road.

AT indicates that this new GT Radial product, available only in Canada, is equally at home on the road and in tackling tough conditions off the road, while AW indicates all weather performance. In fact, the tire displays the 3PMS winter snowflake symbol on its sidewall, meaning that it exceeds all performance parameters related to winter performance.  Although it is a new tire, it builds upon the pedigree of the successful Adventuro AT3.

Backed by a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, the Adventuro AT-AW is currently available in 15 S- and T-speed-rated sizes for 16- to 20-inch rims, including: LT225/75R16, LT245/75R16, LT265/75R16, LT235/85R16, LT245/70R17, LT265/70R17, LT285/70R17, LT245/75/R17, LT235/80R17, P275/65R18, LT275/65R18, LT265/70R18, LT275/70R18, LT275/55/R20 and LT275/60R20. It is being sold through an extensive network of independent tire dealers across Canada that carries a broad range of GT Radial tires for passenger cars and light trucks.

“Earning the 3PMS snowflake designation is quite an accomplishment for an all-terrain tire and, indeed, the Adventuro AT-AW represents a major step forward in the Canadian tire market,” said Lou Monico, director of sales and marketing for GITI Tire (Canada) Ltd.  “This new GT Radial tire delivers smooth, dependable performance in dry conditions but really excels when the weather turns nasty as it often does during Canadian winters. It is especially effective in providing wet and snow traction on the road, as well as dependable traction in gravel, mud and snow off the road.”

The Adventuro AT-AW’s superior snow and wet traction is the result of lateral sipes (small slits cut into the tire wall to provide extra traction) and grooves in the large tread blocks across the tread surface. The lateral grooves, combined with longitudinal grooves in the tread design, also provide excellent handling for on-road and off-road conditions such as gravel, mud and snowy roads. Surefooted traction in the wet and snow is also aided by a new tread compound formula with synthetic SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) and nanotechnology.

In addition to the impressive wet and snow traction, the advanced tread compound in the Adventuro AT-AW contributes to long tread wear and excellent cut and chip resistance needed for off road usage. Another feature contributing to long tire life is the chamfered/stepped edges in the tread design; they help keep rocks and stones from getting lodged in the tire’s tread.

The new GT Radial all-terrain tire utilizes an optimized internal construction to ensure peak performance in all conditions.  This durable construction improves handling and control on and off the road.
