You May Be Required to Report Information Related to Asbestos to the Government

On December 15, 2016, the federal government announced its intention to move forward with plans to manage asbestos. This will be accomplished through the development of additional regulatory measures. AIA Canada has been continuously advocating for a ban on the importing of vehicle parts that contain asbestos. Worker safety is always a priority for our association and our members, and we are glad to see the Canadian government working towards an asbestos-free automotive industry.
To ensure that these additional regulatory measures are based on the best information available, some stakeholders, including those that manufacture, import and use asbestos, are required to submit reports to Environment and Climate Change Canada by 3pm EST on January 18, 2017.
