KYB’s Ray Proulx set to retire

KYB’s Ray Proulx set to retire

Editor’s note: This story has been updated as of January 28, 2026

KYB announced that longtime Canadian automotive aftermarket executive Ray Proulx will retire at the end of this month.

He has spent 21 years with the company, serving as its Canadian senior business development manager for Canada, helping build the brand’s national footprint.

“Throughout his career, Ray played a pivotal role in building and growing the KYB brand across Canada,” the company said in an announcement posted to LinkedIn.

“His dedication and leadership helped establish a strong footprint with major accounts and laid the foundation for the success we continue to build on today.”

The announcement noted that Proulx reflected that working with a Japanese organization and understanding its culture was a rewarding and defining part of his career. He also noted that helping build the KYB brand from the ground up was a rare experience in the industry.

When he steps away from his role on Jan. 31, Proulx said he plans to spend more time with family, travel with his wife and make room for more time on the hockey rink and golf course. He expects to stay connected to the aftermarket through special projects.

“Thank you, Ray, for your commitment, leadership, and the lasting impact you have made on KYB and our partners. We wish you a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement,” the company said.

Shaun Kelso appointed to role

KYB’s new Canadian senior business development manager is Shaun Kelso.

He’s spent 25 years in the automotive aftermarket, with time spent at Goodyear Canada, MOPAR, Magneti Marelli, and Dealer Tire in senior leadership roles.

The company highlighted his background in business development, account leadership, and customer-focused growth.

“A lifelong automotive enthusiast, Shaun’s career goals include helping other passionate automotive professionals succeed—whether through sales support, delivering exceptional customer experience, or coaching and training,” KYB’s announcement said. “Shaun’s new role with KYB will be beneficial to automotive parts distributors, retailers, and technicians throughout Canada.”

It further noted that there is an importance in helping customers understand the value of better quality component versus lower-quality products available at a cheaper price point.

“In the long run, a quality part is an investment that will offer an ROI when either changing the car or the long-term impact on maintenance if they keep the car for years to come,” Kelso said.
