Multiple Diagnostic Interface (MDI 2) for GM Vehicles

ACDelco and General Motors are releasing a new and enhanced version of the Multiple Diagnostic Interface (MDI 2) for GM vehicles.

MDI 2 is a communications device that manages the transfer of data between a GM vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) network and a personal computer. The MDI 2 adds enhanced connectivity, plug-and-play setup, operation during engine cranking, extended temperature range, rugged design and many additional improvements. It also fully complies with the latest SAE J2534 and ISO-22900 standards.

Although other manufacturers offer similar interface tools, MDI 2 is the only GM supported tool that is fully functional for every 1996 and newer GM vehicle.

I want to add codes for the upgraded wires and modules that I bought for my 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and reprogram other moduIes that it’s equipped with. I am going to buy the 3 day Service Programming System (SPS2) ACDelco pass. Can I buy a non GM MDI2 to be able to do this?
