Autel has announced that it is now approved by Mercedes-Benz USA and certified by AutoAuth to access enhanced security gateway (SGW) systems on select 2021 and newer Mercedes-Benz models. This certification allows Autel users to perform previously restricted operations in the body control module, including ADAS calibrations, using any Autel tablet in North America with an active subscription and AutoAuth account.
With this access, technicians can now perform full diagnostics, special functions, active tests, data flow analysis and ADAS calibrations on Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with SGW modules. These modules were introduced in 2021 to protect critical vehicle systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats. Previously, only Mercedes-Benz diagnostic tools could access these systems.
“With access to this enhanced gateway, Autel users can now perform additional services, including ADAS calibrations, on the latest Mercedes vehicles,” said Paul A. Marshall, director of product development for Autel U.S.
Autel joins a select group of aftermarket tablet developers authorized for this level of access. Supported models include CLA, AMG GT, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, CLE, GLC, EQE, and EQS variants.
Autel tablets also support SGW access for Nissan and Stellantis brands, and recently added Volkswagen/Audi SGW functionality with flexible access plans. Technicians must register with AutoAuth and select desired brands, with a small annual fee per brand.
