Yokohama Introduces All-new iceGUARD…

Yokohama Introduces All-new iceGUARD iG52c to Conquer Canadian Winter

Combining the latest winter tire technology, long-lasting tread life and the eco-friendly BluEarth designation, the new iceGUARD iG52c from Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. is custom-built to perform in all Canadian winter conditions. The iceGUARD iG52c is the latest Yokohama passenger vehicle tire, using an ingenious breakthrough in compound and tread pattern design to effectively maintain control in all winter road conditions.

The iceGUARD iG52c goes on sale across the country just in time for winter, in 50 popular sizes for most passenger vehicles. The new iceGUARD iG52c builds on the proven Yokohama iceGUARD iG51v line of light truck and SUV tires, and brings a new level of driver confidence in corners or braking under adverse road conditions to passenger cars.

“The nature of Canada’s landscape and thus the winter conditions we experience are unique compared to other parts of the world,” says James de Chavez, marketing manager for Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc.  “This tire was specifically designed for the Canadian market.”

As a result, the iceGUARD iG52c’s aggressive tread design will perform in all Canadian winter conditions including snow, ice slush, wet and even cold dry roads, with three-dimensional sipes and generous drainage channels to get you to your destination regardless of the weather. The tire was developed to deliver great handling, more even wear throughout and reduced fuel consumption. Its performance, eco-friendly low rolling resistance and longevity make the new iceGUARD iG52c Yokohama’s first winter tire to earn Yokohama’s BluEarth designation.

“Skidding on ice is actually micro-hydroplaning,” says de Chavez. “The weight of the vehicle and tire melts the ice to form a thin film of water, which separates the tire from the road. The new iceGUARD Water Absorbing Compound tire draws away the water from the tread area and keeps the tires better connected with the road.”

The iceGUARD iG52c features power grooves, and slash grooves to give the tire better drainage characteristics for optimum traction and control. An extra-wide power rib maximizes contact with the road for excellent straight-line control, stability and predictable braking, even in the worst conditions.
