Wabash National, one of the leading manufacturers of semi-trailers in North America, has reported savings of 50 per cent in repair times using Lord Fusor Aftermarket Repair Adhesives.
Lord Corporation, an industry leader in engineered structural adhesives, coatings, electronic materials and vibration/motion control solutions, signed a long-term agreement with Wabash National Corporation in spring 2008 for the supply of Lord Fusor Aftermarket Repair Adhesives as well as Lord Engineered Adhesives. The adhesives are being used to replace traditional techniques in the assembly and repair of trailers. In addition to supplying adhesives, Lord has and will continue to provide customized training and procedures to Wabash National Trailer Centers, as well as Wabash National’s dealers, fleet customers and owner-operators.
“Lord Fusor adhesives and procedures have been used in the dry freight/refrigerated van industry for more than a decade,” said Jim Perritt, Lord North America sales manager for auto/truck aftermarket. “Off-road down-time and costs are significantly reduced when Lord Fusor adhesives are used in place of traditional patching and repair techniques.”
Two Wabash National Trailer Centers in Dallas, Texas and Scranton, Pa., implemented the procedures and products first. According to Jack Scarff, director of service Operations for Wabash National Trailer Centers, the Dallas operation has already reported a 50 per cent savings in repair times since integrating Lord Corporation’s products and procedures. Other centres will be integrating the products and training procedures during the next year.
