  1. Paul Kateb says:

    Mr. Greenwood,

I have owned and managed an independent 4 door rapair facility in the Outaouais (Gatineau, QC) region since 2003. Since the inception of the business, I have never had so much difficulty in hiring suitable technicians as I have in the last 2 years. Fortunately, my business partner is a master mechanic and has been holding the fort with an array of apprentices who, for one reason or another decided not to pursue this field. Depite our proximity to Ottawa, we cannot attract technicians from the other side of the river given that the door rates in our vicinity are significantly lower which translates to lower technician pay rates. Are you familiar with any good agencies that can refer suitable candidates? Also, what initiatives, if any, are provincial and/or local governments undertaking to address this matter in the near term? Thank you.
