Jim Smith

The U.S.-based Auto Care Association has named Jim Smith as senior director of technology standards and solutions.

According to the association, Smith’s 35 years of auto care industry experience, ands role in helping to develop the Auto Care Association’s “ACES” and “PIES” standards that made him the perfect candidate to take over the senior director of technology standards and solutions for the association.

“The Technology Standards Committee is vital to this industry,” said Taylor Mitchell, senior vice president, technology and standards, ACA.  “Its leadership role in the development of ACES and PIES has brought incredible value and efficiencies.  We are excited to see Jim continue this long tradition and bring even more value and efficiencies to the aftermarket”.

After 14 years as manager of the store support center for General Auto Parts, Jim Smith transferred to corporate headquarters of Genuine Parts Company as manager of training and customer education for their Total Automotive Management System TAMS.  In 1999 Smith became the director of special projects and was responsible for the first data warehouse.  He was quickly promoted to director of TAMSII product and spent the last 10 years as director of digital content services for NAPA U.S., NAPA Canada and NAPA Mexico.
