Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS multi-layer steel performance head gaskets have been selected as standard equipment on the Saleen S7, which, with a 750-horsepower engine and a zero-to-60 time of under three seconds, is billed as “the world’s fastest production car.”
The S7 is built by Saleen Inc., Irvine, Calif. Fel-Pro gaskets, are manufactured and marketed by Federal-Mogul Corporation.
The S7 project team chose PermaTorqueMLS gaskets based on the sealing performance of Fel-Pro part number 1135 in extensive testing.
A similar PermaTorqueMLS gasket design is used by leading NASCAR Nextel Cup engine builders.
“The same PermaTorqueMLS technology now featured on the Saleen S7 and many leading Nextel Cup engines is available for a wide range of popular street-performance and racing engine platforms from Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Toyota,” said Fel-Pro Performance Products Manager Ron Rotunno.
The PermaTorqueMLS head gasket chosen by Saleen features multiple layers of full-hard stainless steel, precisely engineered sealing beads and advanced polymer coatings to maintain contact pressure between the cylinder head and block despite horizontal and vertical casting motion.
Each PermaTorqueMLS gasket also provides the robust seal needed to contain extreme combustion pressures and temperatures common to naturally aspirated, turbo/supercharged and nitrous-equipped performance engines.
These benefits have been proven in thousands of miles of championship oval track competition and thousands of passes on drag strips across North America.
The Saleen S7 is equipped with an aluminum 7.0-liter small-block V8 engine that produces 700 foot-pounds of torque.
The S7 is capable of reaching speeds of more than 200 miles per hour, and retails at more than $550,000.
“The S7 is like no other production vehicle on the planet,” Rotunno said.
“We’re very proud that the Saleen project team – like thousands of leading engine professionals worldwide – trusts Fel-Pro to seal their engines.”
