Castrol’s partnership with the Toronto Raptors is certainly paying off this year, as Canada’s only NBA team heads to Game 6 of the finals.
Wakefield Canada, manufacturer and marketer of Castrol products in Canada, said it is thrilled with the Raptors’ incredible playoff success, saying it believes “the diverse Raptors fan base across Canada gives the team the Edge it needs to win.”
John Grant, vice president of marketing for Wakefield Canada Inc., says his team has been so inspired by this playoff run that Raptors gear is filling the offices and employees have been organizing pick-up games of basketball in the company parking lot.
Castrol has been the official oil and lubricant of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies since 2013. Last year, Wakefield Canada expanded its relationship with the teams’ owners, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), with a multi-year partnership with the Raptors.
The Castrol brand is featured on digital courtside and basket stanchion signage and in monthly team social media features. Wakefield Canada hosts customers by leveraging access to exclusive experiences reserved for Official Partners.
Grant said Castrol is proud of how the Raptors have united the country during this run and supports the team’s quest to bring the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy to Canada for the first time.
Castrol provides lubricants and support for passionate race teams and consumers. In Canada, Castrol lubricants are marketed, manufactured and distributed by Wakefield Canada, a privately owned company focused on automotive, heavy duty and industrial lubricants.
