People’s Daily Releases Export Numbers

China’s state run media outlet, People’s Daily, today released China’s automotive export numbers.
According to the paper, China’s Ministry of Commerce reported that auto parts exports last year reached $8.9 billion, an increase of 22.8 percent from 2004.
The story did however note that most of the production value remains in the hands of non-domestic organizations, such as large western automakers.
As the piece reports, foreign-founded enterprises and joint ventures make up 56.4 percent of exports, still ranking No. 1 and No. 2 respectively, followed by private enterprises, state-owned enterprises and collective enterprises.
