Pennzoil is partnering with March of Dimes Canada throughout 2013, as a presenting sponsor of the “Rock for Dimes” battle of the bands fundraiser.
The oil company is also donating $65,000 to March of Dimes in the form of a retrofitted vehicle for people living with disabilities so that these former drivers can reclaim their freedom and love of driving.
The charity, which provides programs and services to Canadians living with disabilities, says Pennzoil shares the passion that so many Canadians have for cars, and is helping to celebrate the freedom that people derive from their automobiles.
“We are so excited to welcome Pennzoil to the March of Dimes family,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, director of fund development and communications for March of Dimes Canada. “Their support will allow us to offer our essential programs and services to even more Canadian families living with disabilities.”
“Freedom is a sentiment closely associated with the ability to drive an automobile,” says Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager. “Yet, this freedom can be taken away if one has disabilities and cannot drive a standard automobile. Pennzoil supports organizations like March of Dimes Canada, which are dedicated to helping people with disabilities regain mobility and freedom.”
Pennzoil will present this year’s version of the Rock for Dimes corporate battle of the bands. Amateur musicians compete in this friendly fundraiser for the title of their city’s best corporate band. Bands can showcase their talents in front of a roster of Canadian music industry professionals.
What began as an event in Toronto, has since expanded to become March of Dimes’ flagship national fundraiser and is now held in communities coast to coast. Since its inception, Rock for Dimes has raised over $750,000 to support March of Dimes’ Conductive Education and Stroke Recovery Canada programs.
