On Dasher, On Dancer, On Caravan…

On Dasher, On Dancer, On Caravan . . .

Santa should trade his flying reindeer and sleigh for a minivan, according to a survey released today by Goodmind LLC for DaimlerChrysler Canada.
The results show that more than half of Canadians think Santa would drive a minivan if he traded in his sleigh for new wheels. This is not surprising given the country’s uncommon love affair with minivans, perpetually one of the country’s most popular selling vehicles.
In 2004, Chrysler Group sold 518,945 minivans worldwide, which is an average of 1,417 sold per day, or 59 sold every hour, or 1 minivan sold every minute. With enough storage and space to store all his presents, the minivan overwhelmingly beat out a sport utility vehicle (25 percent), a sporty two-seater (10 percent) and a scooter (5 percent) as the preferred vehicle for Santa.
“For the last ten years, Dodge Caravan has been one of the best selling vehicles in the country,” said Mike Accavitti, Vice President, Marketing, DaimlerChrysler Canada. “It’s not surprising that Canadians picked one of these Magic Wagons for Santa to spread his “magic” this holiday season.”
Recognizing Santa’s team needs a vacation, 40 percent of Canadians would send Rudolph and the reindeer gang on a ski vacation to Banff National Park in Alberta. In their absence, famous Canadians Shania Twain and Mike Myers were chosen to be Santa’s new helpers at 35 percent and 34 percent, respectively.
Additional survey results showed:
– Forty percent of Canadians suggested Santa should upgrade his cookies to a more health conscious choice, while 30 percent say he should upgrade his sleigh because there isn’t enough room for all of the presents.
– Quebec City and Vancouver Island Vacation tied for second place (25 percent) as ideal vacation destinations for Rudolph and the reindeer to recover from years of service.
