The Midwest Auto Care Alliance (MWACA) is piloting a Mentorship Pilot Program designed to help participating service shops find and train new entry level technicians.
The program will also help them select and prepare effective on-site mentors and help shop managers facilitate the mentor program in their business.
This two-year program will use the training and mentoring assets provided by Carquest Technical Institute, Worldpac Training Institute, and S/P2 to train candidates according to National Automotive Service Task Force standards through online and instructor-led classes, hands-on experience and access to online content.
The program will also offer online courses to the mentor and manager of participating shops working with them to meet the needs and demands particular to the individual shops. It will provide access to an online tracking system to evaluate the trainee’s progress for automotive service technology, maintenance and light repair, medium/heavy-duty truck, collision repair and refinishing.
As a pilot program the MWACA expects the program will evolve to suit its participants.
