During the annual convention, the MACS board of directors elected the officers for the 2009 board term. Andy Fiffick of Rad-Air Complete Car Care, Cleveland, Ohio, was elected as chairman replacing Michael Deese of Santech Industries, Dallas, Texas; Gus Swensen of Cool Car Auto Air, Columbus, Ga. was elected vice chairman; Peter Coll of Neutronics, Exton, Pa. was elected treasurer; and David Jack of DENSO Sales, Long Beach, Calif. was elected secretary.
The MACS board has 13 members, four from the service and repair, distribution and manufacturing divisions, plus the past chairman. Six members are elected annually to two year terms.
Despite the economic challenges affecting the automotive aftermarket industry, MACS said attendees and exhibitors maintained a resilient mood. The show included 115 exhibitors in 187 booths.
“We are still entering registration data taken onsite at the show, but our preliminary total registration number is 1,600, down about 150 registrants from 2008. Our first data check shows the decline in attendance to be from the manufacturing side with many of our companies sending fewer representatives to attend the show,” explained Elvis Hoffpauir, MACS president and chief operating officer.
