Corporate Overview
Vast-Auto Distribution in Ontario may be the new kid on the block, but it is built on a decades-old foundation that offers resources that are virtually unparallelled by any of Ontario’s independent distribution organiza- tions.
Founded by John Del Vasto with the 1986 acquisition of Entreposage Jarry Ltée, itself a well-established automotive parts distribution company that had been in business in Quebec since 1970, the company continued to do business under the Jarry name until the early 1990s when, coinciding with the decision to become part of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance (the Auto Value group), it became Vast-Auto Distribution.
Even before that change, it had been dedi- cated to building a multifaceted organization.
One facet of the aftermarket that Vast has been able to draw on to help its distribution success is its franchise businesses in the muffler and brake sectors.
John Del Vasto has his own personal roots in the service-provider sector, and the operation of the Mister Muffler and Octo Auto Service Plus franchise business operations give Vast an ongoing insight into the activity in the market and the day-to-day challenges of those who deal directly with automotive service for the driving public.
Aside from the hard business intelligence it offers to the industry, Vast-Auto also strives to be an excellent corporate citizen. The company is committed to giving back to the community through fundraising programs and events for various charities. Whenever possible, Vast has served as a fundraising platform for charitable endeavours initiated by its clients and employees. Whether it’s a bike ride to raise funds for cancer research or any other charities, Vast- Auto Distribution is always ready to give back to society.
One example of this is the company’s annual charity golf tournament. Held each August, the event raises funds for a number of organizations, having raised more than $150,000 over the years. One key recipient is the Foundation of Stars, which funds research into childhood diseases.
Also, Vast-Auto has contributed to helping disadvantaged families get back on the road with the “Rependre la route” program, through which it has provided reconditioned cars to some 27 individuals and families to date.
Today, Vast-Auto Distribution centres, located in Montréal, Brampton, and Toronto, employ more than 200 people. Thanks to its strong business alliances and partnerships, Vast-Auto Distribution is a powerful economic engine that is positioned to move forward with energy and enthusiasm.
