Uni-Select has announced that Pierre Theriault has returned to the distribution network as the Midas sales account manager. Theriault is returning to Uni-Slect where he previously worked in the marketing department for approximately 12 years. He has an excellent knowledge of the distribution market and his professional expertise will support the integration and the development of the newly acquired Midas account. Theriault will report to Michel Charbonneau, vice-president sales & marketing. Earlier this year, Uni-Select announce that it had completed a letter of intent with Midas with a view to having Uni-Select appointed exclusive distributor of automotive parts to Midas Franchisees and preferred distributor to other independent purchasers of exhaust systems served by Midas, in Canada. Over the previous twelve month period, Midas distributed $28.6 million worth of automotive parts in Canada. The general terms of the agreement provided for the withdrawal of Midas from the distribution business and the purchase by Uni-Select of all of the inventory of parts now carried in Midas’ warehouses. Midas will focus its future developments on franchising and product manufacturing. Uni-Select would serve Midas franchisees and customers from its network of warehouses and from designated Uni-Select jobbers. This business development would add annual sales of $34 million to Uni-Select and its jobber network.
