Uni-Select Inc. has announced the introduction of a telematics solution, powered by Delphi Automotive PLC, for all the 5,000 repair shops within its network in Canada and the United States.
SmartLink is a wireless communication tool that delivers many of the same connected features offered by OEMs, plus all makes coverage giving vehicle owners an option to connect their vehicle regardless of the make or model. SmartLink, a “plug-and play” device, is easily installed into the diagnostic connector located under the vehicle dashboard. This two-way communication, coupled with a data-management tool designed for Uni-Select and accessible on any desktop, tablet or smart phone device, provides users and installers a variety of services.
SmartLink will provide reminders and customized alerts, as well as educational tips about preventative maintenance. At its core is the connectivity to their preferred professional service center. SmartLink will count the DIFM customer and fleet owners as participants and include OE maintenance schedule notifications, service history, check engine light notifications, stolen vehicle locator and battery life monitoring. The data collected can help SmartLink users improve fuel economy and their vehicles reliability. Many fleet owners will be able to reduce operating costs through fuel savings, green driving, productivity boosts and improved driver behavior. SmartLink also provides reminders for maintenance intervals and makes follow-up with customers and appointment scheduling easier, fostering customer loyalty.
“We are proud to offer our professional service centers, fleets and independent auto parts stores a premium quality telematics solution to connect the vehicles, the drivers and the repair shops,” said Richard G. Roy, president and chief executive officer of Uni-Select. “We are dedicated to provide repair shops with the best business programs to help them manage and grow their business, and this innovative program illustrates this commitment,” added Roy.
“SmartLink creates a connection throughout the entire aftermarket value chain, encouraging better relationships with each link,” said Philippe Desnos, president, Delphi Product & Service Solutions.
