U.S. auto parts retailer CSK Auto, Inc., which operates more than 1,100 stores in 19 states under the Checker, Schuck’s, and Kragen brands, has announced that it will begin offering the do-it-yourself market a way to diagnose problems free of charge.
The program, offered in conjunction with AutoXray, a leading provider of automotive diagnostic scanners, is being called the CSK Auto F.A.S.T. program, which stands for Free Automotive Systems Test.
Under the program, CSK stores will offer complimentary use of AutoXray’s new advanced code reader. The customer can come to any Checker or Schuck’s store throughout the western United States and check out an advanced code reader by securing it with their credit card.
This new strategy for CSK is an added value for the consumer.
"Over the past 20 years, auto technology has become more sophisticated–especially in the area of understanding computerized engine controls and diagnosing the related systems," said CSK president Martin Fraser. "Our job as parts counter professionals is to ensure our customers have the tools, understanding, and comfort level to tackle these modern yet routine challenges. F.A.S.T. accomplishes this by providing the tools and information to our customers," he said.
The EZ-READ Advanced Code Reader is a user-friendly, cost-efficient, and portable OBD-I & OBD-II code reader . With an EZ-READ users can access the same information dealers use on ’83 and newer domestic and ’96 and newer import vehicles. Comprehensive features include: show trouble and pending codes in English, resets check engine light.
Customers will be able to simply plug the code reader into their vehicle and easily discern what repairs are necessary.
"We are thrilled to assist CSK Auto in providing this important service to their customers," said William Miller, president and CEO of AutoXray. "We pride ourselves on simplifying the diagnosis and repair of vehicle problems, and the EZ-READ Advanced Code Reader is a great resource for manufacturers, technicians, and consumers who need to quickly comprehend the status of their vehicle and efficiently purchase the appropriate parts and accessories."
