Truckers to Raise Funds for Quebec Students

More than 40 trucks will head off from Montreal en route to Brossard today, with the goal of raising $40,000 for Quebec youth school projects.
The Fondation Jeunes Projet, in association with major sponsors such as Mtro-Richelieu, National Bank of Canada, AXA Insurance, Groupe Guilbeault, Kraft Canada, Marsh Canada, Multi-Marques, and Natrel, will hold its 7th annual Rallye Jeunes et Cie on Sunday, May 5
Every year, the Rallye Jeunes et Cie, an initiative that was launched in 1995 by the Fondation Jeunes-Projet in order to raise funds for Qubec youth school projects, brings together Montral-area teachers, companies, and elementary and secondary school students. Their goal this year is to collect $40,000.
Paul Laporte, of Mtro Richelieu Inc., the Honorary Chairman of the Rallye, together with Pierrette Robitaille, actress and foundation sponsor, and Jean-Pierre Picard, a teacher and the mastermind behind the Fondation Jeunes-Projet, will be joined by actor Julien Bernier-Pelletier and champion trucker Donald Porlier.
On the way to Brossard, truckers will be accompanied by a student from a benefiting high school.
The route covers some 120 kilometres, and runs from Montral to Brossard via Laval. The rally is expected to last about three and a half hours.
As drivers arrive at the destination, Ecole secondaire Antoine in Brossard around noon, rally participants will compete for the Marsh Cup in a driving skill competition.
