Dealers continue to be the leader in this service area at 37% share, relatively unchanged over last year.
Decreases of 2% were experienced in B. C. and Ontario. Independent repair shops, tire specialists, and mass merchants continue to be the next most common places for customers to have tire work performed.
Tire Specialists’ share stayed flat overall, but experienced a 3% gain in the Atlantic region. As the vehicle ages, Dealers lose share of service from 64% (two-to three-year-old vehicles) down to 20% (eight-to 12-year-old vehicles).
The fact that more than one-third of new vehicle owners are willing to shop around for tires reinforces how price-sensitive this purchase is, and continues to present an area of opportunity.
