Car dealers lost 2% of their share for alignment to Tire Specialists, but still maintain the highest share at 43%.
Independents have the second-highest share at 20%. The decline for Dealers is largely driven by the Atlantic region, where a 7% decline occurred this year. Tire Specialists declined in B. C. and Alberta, but experienced gains in share everywhere else, particularly a 10% gain in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Among two-to three-year-old vehicles, Dealers have the greatest share, at 73%. By the time vehicles reach eight to 12 years old, that share slips to only 23%. Independent repair shops have the largest share in this age group, at 29%.
