When event founder Fred Shaddick (aka “Shad”) set out with a group of buddies to turn an annual golf outing into a worthwhile cause, they probably didn’t expect that the event would still be running more than 35 years later and have raised more than $3.5 million towards muscular dystrophy research. With the generous support of the automotive aftermarket community, on June 11th 2009 SHAD’s R&R expects to roll over $3.6 million in total fundraising.
The well recognized one-day golf event is held annually in Ontario and is attended by key automotive aftermarket suppliers, distributors, jobbers and retailers that all share a common desire to “give something back”. Run entirely by volunteers, every available dollar collected by SHAD’s is donated to muscular dystrophy research and/or used to provide assistance to those afflicted with neuromuscular disorders.
