Overall, the share for shock/strut work is very consistent with last year.
Dealers continue to have the highest market share at 41%, followed by Independents at 29%. Regionally however, consumer preferences have clearly changed since last year. In B. C., Dealers lost 10% share, while Independents gained 16%. In the Atlantic region, Independents lost 12% share as consumers favour do-it-yourself (DIY) for shock/strut work (up 8%). By vehicle age, Dealerships continue to dominate the two-to three-year-old vehicle category with 85% share, although down 3% from last year. Independents continue to have the largest share of shock/strut service on older vehicles at 39% for eight-to 12-year-old vehicles, down four percentage points from last year.
