PPG Gets Nissan Nod

PPG is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of Nissan’s 2006 Global Innovation Award for its Durabed sprayable bedliner.
The award was presented to PPG at Nissan’s annual Global Supplier Meeting held in Tokyo, Japan.
The Global Innovation Award was established by Nissan last year to honor suppliers for developments in product technology or process management.
This year, PPG was one of only two North American suppliers to receive the award for product technology.
Initially used on the Nissan Titan line of full-sized pick up trucks, Durabed sprayable bedliner is also available on the Nissan Frontier.
While spray-in bedliners have been available through the aftermarket for more than 15 years, Durabed sprayable bedliner is the first and only factory applied spray-in bedliner used today in automotive assembly plants.
Relative to typical aftermarket spray-in bedliners, Durabed sprayable bedliner has superior outdoor weather resistance that is comparable to long- lasting automotive paint.
Pittsburgh-based PPG is a manufacturer of transportation coatings and a global supplier of industrial and packaging coatings, and a producer of architectural coatings, primarily in North America.
In addition, PPG manufactures flat and fabricated glass, continuous-strand fiber glass and chemicals.
Sales were US$10.2 billion in 2005.
