PPG Aftermarket Executive Announces Retirement


Garry A. Goudy, senior vice-president, automotive aftermarket for PPG Industries who began his career with the company in Toronto, Ont. 36 years ago, has announced his retirement effective July 1.
“Garry not only consistently produced strong financial performance, but he positioned us for success, especially in the automotive aftermarket,” said Charles E. Bunch, chairman and chief executive officer. “Garry’s people skills, his deep knowledge of the business and his direct, practical approach have served PPG well. He has made a significant impact on our company.”
A native of Meaford, Ont., Goudy joined subsidiary PPG Canada Inc. in 1970 as a sales and marketing trainee in Toronto and held several sales assignments. He was appointed Toronto regional sales manager in 1976, and later was national jobber manager, Ontario/Maritimes glass manager, flat glass sales manager, general manager of flat glass sales, and general manager of commercial products and distribution for Canada.
After Goudy moved to PPG’s Pittsburgh headquarters in 1988 as general manager of North American glass branch distribution, he became general manager of North American flat glass sales and marketing, general manager of North American glass trade products and general manager of automotive replacement glass. He was named vice president, automotive replacement glass, in 1997; vice president, automotive refinish, in 2001; vice president, automotive aftermarket, in 2004; and to his current position in 2005.
Goudy is a business administration graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and completed marketing and business management programs at the University of Western Ontario.
