Pirelli has scored highest in original equipment tire customer satisfaction in the Car/Compact Van Vehicles category of the new J.D. Power and Associates 2003 Original Tire Satisfaction Study.
The study, based on the experiences and opinions of more than 30,400 consumers in their first two years of new-vehicle ownership, reports on how satisfied consumers are with their OE tiresthe tires that came with their new vehicle at the time of purchase. The study measures consumer satisfaction with OE tires and monitors consumer perceptions regarding tire quality, performance, brand image and service. Overall satisfaction is calculated using a tire satisfaction index that includes five factors: tire durability, traction, appearance, ride and handling.
Pirelli achieved the highest tire index score among passenger vehicle owners, with top ratings for tire traction, appearance, ride and handling. According to the J.D. Power and Associates study, "Pirelli’s key strengths reside in the handling factor, where more than one-half of owners indicate they are ‘delighted’ with each of the handling measures."
Commenting on the award, Guy Mannino, Pirelli Tire North America (PTNA) President and CEO, said, "While I have been in the U.S. for only a very short time, the prestige of the J.D. Power awards is recognized worldwide. PTNA received a similar award in 1992 for Best OE Tire.
