Ontario doubles tax credit for apprentices

ATTENTION READER. PLEASE SEE AUTOSERVICEWORLD UPDATE TO THIS ITEM, DATED MARCH 29

Collision repair facility employers who hire and train apprentices can now receive enhanced tax credits to help better offset any risks and costs involved in hiring these workers.

The Apprenticeship Training Tax Credit has been doubled from the former $5,000 per year limit to $10,000 per year, per apprentice.

The credit is based on an increased percentage of wages and costs expended and the maximum credit for each apprentice of $10,000 per year means that over a 36 month period of apprenticeship the tax credit goes to $30,000.

This enhanced tax credit is only one of a number of incentives available to any Ontario business that hires and trains collision repair and autobody apprentices. Automotive Painter designation is also included. For more information on the available grants and incentives, please see “Printable Documents” on www.ciia.com
