NASCAR Launches Into Orbit With Satellite Radio Show

NASCAR Performance Live, a one-hour radio show dedicated to discussing and examining the technical side of NASCAR, will debut today on XM Satellite Radio.
The show will also air on Motor Racing Network (MRN) Radio affiliates throughout the U.S. The program’s talk show-format, airing live from 7 to 8 PM EST, will feature NASCAR crew chiefs and other team members getting in-depth on what goes into putting the best stock cars in the world under the best stock car drivers in the world.
The show, which will originate from a special radio studio at NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC, will be hosted by MRN pit road reporter Steve Post. Along side Post will be former Crew Chief and current color analyst for NASCAR on Fox, Larry McReynolds, and a rotating active crew chief, to be lined-up week-to-week by the Crew Chief Club.
“NASCAR Performance Live is about the great professionals who prepare these cars and these drivers for competition, and the incredible work and strategy that goes into winning a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, NASCAR Busch Series, or NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race,” said Mark Dyer, NASCAR’s vice president of licensing and consumer products. “This show will focus on the cars and the teams that put these machines under these great drivers, and everyone behind the scenes who play a big role in the sport 75 million Americans love.”
NASCAR Performance Live will go beyond just the technical aspects of the sport by spotlighting the team side of NASCAR racing. The show will showcase the crew chiefs, pit crew, spotters and the men and women at the race shop, allowing listeners to get to know and appreciate the people who make NASCAR teams’ perform at the highest levels at the racetrack, week in and week out.
The show is also designed to discuss, analyze, and help clarify the rules of NASCAR, where fans can learn more about how those rules and policies on the racetrack affect the competitors.
“These race teams are unbelievable in how they perform over a 36-race schedule,” said Larry McReynolds, former NASCAR crew chief and co-host of NASCAR Performance Live. “Not enough people realize the number of people that have a hand in taking their teams to victory lane on Sundays.”

In addition to airing the program weekly, NASCAR Radio on XM Satellite Radio will support the NASCAR Performance brand with special programs and stories related to NASCAR Performance with XM Anchor Claire B. Lang that will give fans additional insight into the behind the scenes teamwork it takes to win races and championships.
NASCAR fans will be able to talk and listen to the “ultimate automotive technicians” when the show debuts on April 14th. The show will tackle some of the hot competition topics in NASCAR racing every week, including, among the many, Toyota in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, new spoiler/tire compounds, restrictor plate racing and safer walls. The show will also address the car care needs of NASCAR fans through a segment with ASE Master Tech Mark “the Consumer Crew Chief” Salem.
