Mr. Lube to Use Web to Train Employees

Mr. Lube, a chain of fast lube outlets that also provides other vehicle services, has elected to outsource its employee technical certification to a web hosting firm.
Q9 Networks Inc., a Canadian provider of managed Internet infrastructure and web hosting services, has been selected by Mr. Lube, Canada’s leader in preventative vehicle maintenance services, to host a new Web-based technical certification program for Mr. Lube employees.
Developed by Ottawa-based e-learning company, ACERRA, the unique application replaces a paper-based certification program to better address the needs of a geographically dispersed workforce, annual re- certification requirements and increasingly complex learning demands.
Mr. Lube, with 85 franchised and company stores, selected Q9’s Managed Service Bundle after considering an internal solution and offerings from other hosting providers. The bundle, specifically designed for small and medium- sized enterprises, includes a dedicated server, managed bandwidth and tape back-up service.
"With the certification program and exams being accessed online by almost 2,000 new and re-qualifying employees annually, in six different time zones, a high level of reliability and technical support were key requirements in our decision to outsource," says Bill Ticknor, senior vice president, Mr. Lube.
