Mosport International Raceway and Imperial Oil today announced the renewal of a sponsorship agreement that will include the renaming of Canada’s biggest sports car event of the year to Mobil 1 Presents The Labour Day Weekend Grand Prix of Mosport.
“Mobil 1 is excited to be the presenting sponsor of the Labour Day Grand Prix of Mosport for 2006. We believe that our support for this thrilling event will contribute to an even more successful race weekend,” said Colin Cochran, line of business advisor with Imperial Oil.
The three-day event runs September 1-3 and is the only Canadian stop in the American Le Mans Series, North America’s premier sports car championship.
The 10-race series boasts a world-class field of drivers and cars.
“Mobil 1 has been a great partner on this event and we’re thrilled to see them return in a larger capacity for 2006,” said Myles Brandt, Mosport’s president and general manager.
“The fan and corporate support for our American Le Mans weekend has grown tremendously over the last few years and this is now one of Canada’s elite automotive and motorsport happenings of the year.”
