February 2011 sales were best ever for the month.
Volkswagen Canada has reported that its February sales of 3,237 new vehicles represents a 15% increase over last year’s total of 2,821, and is the company’s best-ever result for the month.
Sales were led by the 2011 Jetta, which posted a total of 1,532.
The Jetta was redesigned for the 2011 model year to offer more space, improved performance and fuel economy. When compared to February of 2010, sales of the new Jetta improved by 136%.
Throughout the line, Volkswagen models such as the Touareg sport utility, the Tiguan compact sport utility, and the Golf family, delivered excellent results and contributed to a strong increase in the brand’s market share, which now stands at 3.4% in Canada.
Volkswagens equipped with TDI Clean Diesel engines played a significant role in the company’s sales, says VW.
This technology is available on the new Jetta, Golf and Golf Wagon, as well as on the new Touareg sport utility It will soon be available on the new Passat mid-sized sedan, which will debut this summer.
TDI Clean Diesel engines deliver all of the benefits of high mileage and tremendous durability without any compromises in drivability or cargo capacity, says the company.
