Jack Stack Receives APRA’s Distinguished Service Award


John P. (Jack) Stack, president and CEO of SRC Holdings Corporation in Springfield, Mo., has been presented with the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
Companies under the SRC Holdings banner remanufacturer starters and alternators, engines, and transmissions, as well as providing services such as failure analysis and logistics support.
In presenting the award, APRA chairman George Davis, stated, “Jack Stack has done a great deal over the past 27 years to elevate the remanufacturing industry so that consumers and government officials understand the tremendous contributions that the remanufacturing industry makes to protecting the environment as well as keeping over 225 million vehicles on the nation’s highways.”
In 1983, Stack and the SRC employees bought the company from International Harvester and turned it into what Inc. Magazine has proclaimed “one of America’s most competitive small companies.” He is the author of the book, The Great Game of Business, published in 1992, which was selected as one of the thirty best business books of the year by Soundview Executive Book Summaries. SRC has received both the National Business Ethics Award and the Business Enterprise Trust Award. SRC was also selected as one of the Top 100 Companies to Work for in America. Stack’s second book, A Stake in the Outcome, was published in March 2002.Jack is a national and world judge and a past recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Institute and has served as an advisor for this group since 1998. Inc. Magazine has called him the “smartest strategist in America” and named him one of twenty-five entrepreneurs selected to represent the 25 years Inc. has been published. He was also listed among the “top 10 minds in small business” in Fortune Small Business Magazine.
